Math & Physics Club

Math and Physics Club 是來(lái)自美國(guó)西雅圖的獨(dú)立樂(lè)隊(duì),清新派的.提到清新派大家當(dāng)然會(huì)說(shuō)到瑞典。當(dāng)然美國(guó)的清新派與瑞典有著本質(zhì)的不同，但是也有些與瑞典大相徑庭的作品。從Math and Physics Club身上看到了瑞典人那種獨(dú)立音樂(lè)的特點(diǎn)與一些十分相似的東西。都有著簡(jiǎn)單，自然，陽(yáng)光，溫馨的感覺(jué)。2004年的夏天，主唱Charles與吉他手James發(fā)起Math and Physics Club ，然后又加入了鼓手Kevin，在2004年的夏末樂(lè)隊(duì)中唯一的女隊(duì)員Saundrah和貝斯手Ethan加入樂(lè)隊(duì)，其中女隊(duì)員Saundrah負(fù)責(zé)小提琴。所以專(zhuān)輯中時(shí)常出現(xiàn)很美妙動(dòng)人的小提琴的旋律。到這時(shí)樂(lè)隊(duì)的人員算是齊了，用他們的話說(shuō)，“我們開(kāi)始了我們不可思議工作”。他們開(kāi)始表演一些自己的DEMO作品，他們的作品被很多獨(dú)立長(zhǎng)牌看上，并且都向他們下了合約，但Math and Physics Club最終選擇了在Santa Barbara的一家小長(zhǎng)牌 Matinée Recordings 。Matinée Recordings是一家專(zhuān)門(mén)發(fā)行Indie Pop的長(zhǎng)牌，雖然小，但是旗下的藝人卻都是獨(dú)立的大牌 如， The Lucksmiths ，Pipas。2000年時(shí)還發(fā)行了瑞典清新大牌Edson的一張CD EP。當(dāng)然，現(xiàn)在Matinée Recordings 旗下的藝人也是相當(dāng)多了。說(shuō)到瑞典的Edson，可能算是影響吧，Math and Physics Club專(zhuān)輯中的音樂(lè)，有很多都會(huì)有些Edson的感覺(jué)，那種瑞典音樂(lè)的氣質(zhì)，如 La La La Lisa ，Look At Us Now 等等，說(shuō)到這也就是我前面提到的，他們與瑞典的音樂(lè)大相徑庭。如果不說(shuō)他們的國(guó)籍，只聽(tīng)音樂(lè)很容易會(huì)讓人們以為是瑞典的樂(lè)隊(duì)。樂(lè)隊(duì)在2005年的2月份發(fā)行了第一張4首歌曲的Weekends Away EP。隨后9月份又發(fā)行一張Movie Ending Romance EP，2006年11月發(fā)行了自己的首張專(zhuān)輯《Math and Physics Club》。專(zhuān)輯中，時(shí)常聽(tīng)到“ba ba ba ba ... ， La La La ..”這些哼唱式的詞調(diào)，這點(diǎn)同樣有著瑞典人的風(fēng)格。清晰，簡(jiǎn)單的木吉他，在加上旋律優(yōu)美的小提琴。很美妙的一張清新專(zhuān)輯。值得靜靜的聽(tīng)聽(tīng)。 The Math and Physics Club are a twee pop group that formed in Seattle in 2004, when guitarist James Werle and vocalist Charles Bert, who'd been collaborating on various recordings up until that point, started working with drummer Kevin Emerson, violinist Saundrah Humphrey, and bassist Ethan Jones. Sounding something like a cross between the Smiths, the Field Mice, and Belle and Sebastian (in other words, extremely twee), the Math and Physics Club were snapped up by Matinee by the end of the year. Their debut EP on that label, Weekends Away, came out in February 2005; the disc enjoyed quite a bit of critical buzz, and was in regular rotation on Seattle's KEXP that year. Proving that they were anything if not prolific, the Math and Physics Club had another EP, Movie Ending Romance, out on Matinee by the time summer rolled around. Their self-titled debut full-length, produced by Kevin Suggs, came out a little over a year later, and they followed it up with a modest east coast tour. Having taken a quick breather at the beginning of the year, the Math and Physics Club returned with another Matinee EP, Baby I'm Yours, in the summer of 2007.
