Eleni Karaindrou生于希臘中部山區(qū)的一個(gè)小村莊Teichio，在雅典長(zhǎng)大并在Hellenikon Odion學(xué)習(xí)鋼琴與音樂(lè)的理論。1969年到1974年間，她在巴黎學(xué)習(xí)民族音樂(lè)學(xué)，并在學(xué)成返國(guó)后成立了傳統(tǒng)樂(lè)器實(shí)驗(yàn)室 (the Laboratory for Traditional Instruments)。Eleni一直對(duì)希臘音樂(lè)有著無(wú)比的熱情與支持。她為很多的電影、戲劇編寫配樂(lè)。從1982年起，Eleni開(kāi)始為Theo Angelopoulos的電影譜寫配樂(lè)。
