The Verve 樂隊 1990 年組建于英國威根。從唱片中，你怎么也不會猜到 The Verve 是來自一個田園般的、純樸的南方小鎮(zhèn)。當然，如果沒有不同于一般的背景，他們永遠也不會投入這種強烈的音域中。面對目前頗為時髦的“虛無逃避主義”英國搖滾樂風(fēng)氣，他們時而松弛、時而壓抑的風(fēng)格超出了傳統(tǒng)的歌曲結(jié)構(gòu)，代之以空間搖滾之上的迷幻主義，外加爵士風(fēng)格和氛圍音樂脈絡(luò)。 　　

樂隊的成員來自威根的溫斯坦利大學(xué)，成員包括主唱 richard ashcroft、吉他手 nick mccabe、貝司手 simon jones 和鼓手 peter salisbury。他們早期的單曲，如《all in the mind》和《gravity grave》，初步確立了樂隊猛烈的音樂招牌。
